Gate Way Trust

Gate Way Trust was originally set up as a small charity with the purpose of providing small grants to individuals who suffer from addiction to help them with their recovery. Beneficiaries of the charity typically received a small, one-off grant of around £200 - £500, to help them towards the cost of things such as items of furniture like a bed when setting up a new home and beginning a journey of recovery and abstinence.

Following the closure of a small but highly regarded residential drug & alcohol rehabilitation service based in Nottingham at the end of 2022, the trustees of the charity made the decision to broaden its objectives.

Recognising the important work that this rehabilitation service undertook before it closed, in January 2023 the charity expanded its board of trustees and revised its purpose and constitution to enable it to set up its own operation that would carry on where the old rehabilitation service left off. This new venture was called Studio House Project. Supporting the Project is now the charity's main objective.

In April 2024 the charity converted to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), and is now registered with the Charities Commission under the Registered Charity Number 1208039.

Studio House Project

Studio House Project is a drug & Alcohol rehabilitation facility which provides a fully supported residential community for adult men and women who wish to recover from drug and/or alcohol addiciton. The programme delivers a holistic programme of groups and activities designed to give an individual tools to lead a healthy and abstinent life, free from active addiction. It provides food and accomodation for the duration of the programme, support from staff and peers (including a 1:1 key worker), and opportunities to develop personal skills and reintegrate into the community. For more information about the project and what it is able to offer, please visit our website: StudioHouseProject.org.uk

Access to support from the project is through self-referral only. Those who want to self-refer can do so by calling our office in Nottingham on 0115 855 0591 (click to call), and booking an assessment.

Going Forward

Establishing the Charity and securing stability for the development and future of Studio House Project has been the main area of focus and priority for Gate Way Trust. But we do not wish to stop here. Addiction is still hugely misunderstood in the wider community and although the growth and awareness of rehabilitation facilities has become more common in many peoples' minds, the fact is that rehab facilities are still few and far between. They either have huge waiting lists or are only available if one has funds often in excess of £10,000 for a month's stay - way beyond the reach of most people in desperate need. We have to remember that addiction is a killer.

The waiting list to get into Studio House Project is currently up to 6 months. The Trustees of Gate Way Trust are commited to grow and develop their rehab philosophy, by establishing more rehabs in the proven model of Studio House Project, and developing and strengthening their comprehensive aftercare policy to maximise and strengthen the recovery of residents who have pledged; all of which will be very costly - so donations will be an important aspect of our funding.
